Dune Buggy Driver Who Ripped Around San Diego Streets Faces 26 Charges

We don’t condone any person driving recklessly on public roads as it really is the dumbest thing you can do as a driver.  However, you have to admit this 800 HP dune buggy is an insane beast and it’s no surprise the video of it tearing up San Diego’s streets has become a viral sensation.  With over a million views since being posted in January, check it out for yourself.

Hopefully driver Blake Wilkey has now learned his lesson from the little joy ride as he is in some big trouble with the local law enforcement with 26 misdemeanor charges, including nine conspiracy counts.  Hope he has a good lawyer and some extra dough for bus fare.

Pro Snowboarder John Jackson shoots cool Sand Rail video

GoPro is the king of creating amazing video content and they have done it again with today’s posting of a very cool video of pro snowboarder John Jackson. In this new clip, John is taking advantage of the high desert terrain near Mammoth, California while behind the wheel of his powerful and well used sand rail.

As car guys we are usual in the know about all things auto but we were not that familiar with the term Sand Rail. Since here in Canada, we typically call vehicles designed for the sand dunes just Dune Buggies. Long story short, these Sand Rail’s look awesome and we need to test one out here in Canada.

After watching the video you realize how California’s climate really does have so much to offer the auto enthusiast. And John’s hair just goes so well with the whole Sand Rail mountain experience.

Rally for the Cure 2013

On Sunday, August 18th, Team RedlineNorth participated for the 2nd year in a row in the Ewing’s Cancer Foundation of Canada Rally for the Cure. Having had such an incredible time at last year’s event we were eager to take part once again. And the weather gods were certainly on our side as you could not have asked for a better day as the sun shined!

The Rally for the Cure is a unique charity event that incorporates both autos and planes in a truly one-of-a-kind experience.  The event is comprised of a treasure hunt theme rally, delicious BBQ, silent auction, and variety of musical performances all in an amazing festive atmosphere at Markham’s Buttonville airport.

Although, Team RedlineNorth came up short only placing 8th compared to last year’s 2nd place, the event was a ton of fun and is truly a rewarding experience. We were successful in getting a few other teams out with us, of whom placed 5th and 9th respectively, and we hope to bring even more teams to next year’s event.

The Rally for the Cure event is not only fun for the car and plane enthusiast but is something the whole family can do so please be sure to mark the 2014 date (Sunday, September 14th) in your calendars as there is no better way to spend a Sunday.

California Part 2- LA’s Petersen Automotive Museum

After driving around town for the first few days, we headed over to check out LA’s amazing and historic Petersen Automotive Museum.  The pictures do not do it justice but the gist is, this is a must see for any car enthusiast.  The Museum entails the typical historical details and stories about cars and the people who built them but the really interesting part is the guided tour of The Vault. The Vault consists of all the vehicles that are not on display as well as many of the vehicles on loan from benefactors. Unfortunately, there is no photography allowed in this section so we were not able to take any pics which just means you must come here yourself. Nonetheless, here is our coverage from the museum section which included a range of vintage and new vehicles.
