Maybe there is some truth to the old adage “They don’t make him like they use too”

Rachel Veitch, a 93 year old grandmother, who lives in Orlando, Florida has hung up the keys to her “Chariot” after she ran a red light last month and realized her vision had failed her. After 48 years on the road and 927,000 kilometres her “Chariot” a 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente has finally been parked for good. She bought the Mercury Comet Caliente for $3,289 in February 1964 and the car has outlasted three marriages while having had 18 batteries, three sets of shocks and eight mufflers. She has meticulously kept service records throughout the 48 years and claims it still runs as good as the day she drove it off the Mercury lot.
